I began my professional journey as a photography major in Iran and initially wanted to live and work as an artist. I quickly became enamored of the therapeutic quality of the dark room and the art process. This experience led me into a fascination with the healing properties of the art process. Seeking more enlightenment on this subject, I immigrated to the US to continue my investigation of healing processes. After immigration my fascination with human psychology led me to obtain my Bachelors degree in psychology. Continuing my study of art healing processing, I minored in Visual Arts at UTD.
I began work with autistic individuals during my internship and introduced art as a form of expression for my clients, and this path led me to seek out a field that would integrate my two interests and offer healing for individuals in need of psychological healing. Thus, I earned my Masters in Art Therapy and Counseling from the Saint Mary of the Woods College in Indiana I am continually learning and educating myself in different treatment modalities in order to be able to offer healing to the community in which I live and work. I am EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing) informed and currently learning about IFS (Internal Family Systems), fascinated by the possibilities that these modalities bring to my profession.
We will work together to find the mode of healing that works best for you.
I am a licensed professional counselor and art therapist in the state of Texas who has spent the last two decades studying different modalities of therapy and trauma treatment.
